Although I work for Tecgraf/PUC-Rio located in Rio de Janeiro, since 2003 I live in Porto Alegre. I work at home and I like a lot what I do for living.
Regularly I
attend to Traditional Shotokan Karate training at the
Shinkukan
dojo. Eventually I dedicate some time for Amateur Photography.
Karate
Since around 1984 I train Karate. I started with Sensei Gilberto Gaertner
at Bodhidharma dojo in
Curitiba. In Rio de Janeiro I trained in several dojos, but I started and
stopped many times because of graduate and post graduate studies at PUC-Rio.
Finally in Porto Alegre I got back to regularly training with Sensei Alfredo
Aires at Shinkukan dojo since
2003, and never stopped.
The Karate style I train is Shotokan, created by Sensei Gichin Funakoshi
in the beginning of the 20th century. Our dojo is associated to the
Japan Karate Association (JKA), that
represents the Shotokan style. Our training is based on Traditional Karate
as practiced in Japan and follows the rules and regulations of the
International Traditional Karate Federation
(ITKF).
In October 2014 I completed the V Karate-do Instructor Course conducted
by the Sul Riograndense State Traditional Karate Federation.
In October 2018 I received the 4º DAN graduation from the Sul Riograndense State Traditional Karate Federation
(FSRKT) and Brazilian Traditional
Karate Confederation (CBKT).
And in March
2019 I started a social program where I teach Karate for free in a
fundamental school (ages 12 to 15) in
Porto Alegre. Unfortunately because of the pandemic the program has to be
shutdown.
In October 2024 I received the 5º DAN graduation from the Sul Riograndense State Traditional Karate Federation
(FSRKT) and Brazilian Traditional
Karate Confederation (CBKT).
Photography
My photography has two phases: film and digital, like many other amateur
photographers.
I started taking pictures when I was 14 using a small rangefinder
Minolta AL that was
a gift from my father. He taught me what matters most and then set me free.
During the film phase I used a
Pentax MX and a
Pentax ZX-7. Most of the photos where processed in an amateur laboratory
that I shared with some friends (Maurício, George, Carim and Joana). This
lab was located in bathrooms of several houses. To all the respective
bathroom owners my sincerely acknowledgements.
The digital phase started with a
Sony DSC-W1 with 5Mp,
while still using film. Now I don't use film anymore. My first DSLR camera
was a Pentax K10D. My
current camera is a Nikon
D7500.
Still have almost all my cameras.
I keep my most considered photos at
Instagram.
